Daniel Hannan, conservative MEP for South East England, gives British Prime Minister Gordon Brown a legendary smack down in the European Parliament. Watch the video below. This speech could have easily been meant for President Obama.
Now it cuts like a knife, but it feels so right (thanks Bryan Adams!):
The truth, Prime Minister, is that you have run out of our money.…
Every British child is born owing around £20,000. Servicing the interest on that debt is going to cost more than educating the child.…
Last year, in the last twelve months, 125,000 private sector jobs have been lost - and yet you’ve created 30,000 public sector jobs. Prime Minister, you cannot carry on forever, squeezing the productive bit of the economy in order to fund an unprecedented engorgement of the unproductive bit.…
You cannot spend your way out of recession or borrow your way out of debt.…
You know, and we know, and you know that we know that it’s nonsense.
The shocked look on some of the other members’ faces is priceless. Gordon Brown’s reaction, however, is cowardly, smarmy, and smug.
Bring this man to the States to smack down Obama!
