A saleswoman recently inquired about a position with an LLC I am a partner in.
Immediately I am suspect of her. Why? Because in these tough economic times, the good salespeople will not be let go. And she was.
Anyway, after speaking with her I couldn’t help but be boggled by how HORRIBLE she was at selling herself and how non-compelling her story was.
These are the details we got from speaking with her:
- She was asking for a full time position with a $60,000 base salary.
- A specific commission % on ad sales
The kicker - She said she could probably do $3-$5k per month in ad sales.
So this lady is telling us that BEST CASE SCENARIO, we would take a loss on her. She did not have a story.
What the hell? How clueless can one get?
Jobs are not recession proof. Individuals are.
When things are good, many people can get by. The cloud of success shrouds weaknesses. But when times are tough, companies will put every employee under a microscope. Only the strong survive.
To excel:
- One must be compelling.
- One must be confident.
- One must have initiative.
If you don’t possess these and you can’t sell yourself then you are doomed.
