The Minnesota Senate Recount Sucks - Like An Al Franken Movie

al franken stuart smalley

We all knew that when Norm Coleman was ahead (725 votes on Nov 4th) in the Minnesota Senatorial race and the recount was inevitable, Al Franken and the looney Dems would try some shady shit with the recount process and the courts.

Last month, Mr. Franken’s campaign charged that one Hennepin County (Minneapolis) precinct had “lost” 133 votes, since the hand recount showed fewer ballots than machine votes recorded on Election Night. Though there is no proof to this missing vote charge—officials may have accidentally run the ballots through the machine twice on Election Night—the Canvassing Board chose to go with the Election Night total, rather than the actual number of ballots in the recount. That decision gave Mr. Franken a gain of 46 votes. (source: WSJ)

This is just one of many examples of shadiness with the recount process. Since the recounted votes weren’t in Franken’s favor, they went with the Election Night results.

I don’t know what sucks more: this recount process or an Al Franken movie. Stuart Smalley - doggone it, you are not good enough.

Minnesota should have conducted a run-off election. This recount bullshit gets ridiculous on both sides, and it will likely come down to whomever has the most friends in power and the best lawyers.

Another example of our system at its finest.
