Reason.tv recently put out a 2008 year in review of numerous bans that our wonderful Nanny State governments across the nation have enacted.
Here is the video:
The most ridiculous one was Los Angeles’ attempted ban on homicide to coincide with the 40th anniversary of Martin Luther King Jr.‘s assassination. Obviously it didn’t work. The gangbangers don’t give a shit about Martin Luther King Jr. Nor do they give a shit about life.
A councilwoman stated (on the ban):
I don’t think it’s silly. I think it’s symbolic. It might raise people’s consciousness a bit, and if that happens, it will have fulfilled its purpose.
Get a clue councilwoman! People in LA do not need their consciousness raised about homicide. Everyone is well-aware. We need to raise the consciousness of the ones who commit the crimes.
How about you start by enforcing laws? How about you remove the idiocy of operating as a Sanctuary City where illegal immigrants can do whatever they want, including killing our own citizens? Not only do you have undocumented people committing violent crimes, but they place over a $10 billion burden on honest hardworking taxpayers each year.
